UI/UX & Graphic Designer

Overview

We’re looking for a talented and creative designer to join the Latitude team as we build the next version of our interactive web video application, Lumière.

Job Description

As the principal UI designer, you will help to set the overall design direction for the Lumière application, creating engaging user experiences and tackling design challenges unique to interactive web video across a variety of platforms and devices.  You’ll work with developers and product owners to create a user interface that not only meets needs but drives feature development forward through creative design.

While we have a team of skilled front-end developers, you should also demonstrate a working knowledge of HTML, CSS and Javascript and enjoy collaborating on and troubleshooting layout-related code as needed.  Bonus points to candidates who have experience with or interest in animation and motion graphics for the web. The ideal candidate will also enjoy collaborating on graphic and UX design needs outside of the app environment (e.g., our website, and client reporting dashboards), helping to create a unified design system that informs work throughout the company.

Years of experience and education matter, but only to a point.  At Latitude, we value curiosity, creative problem-solving, innovation, independence and self-ownership.  Are you able to craft user interfaces with a holistic view of the business requirements, user needs and developer concerns?  Can you set and fulfill aggressive deadlines? Do you function well in an environment where you routinely encounter design challenges you haven’t seen before? Those are the things we care most about.

About the Company

Latitude is an established leader in creative video-based research and streaming media.  Our flagship application, Lumière, was first brought to life five years ago by a small group of developers, data scientists and entrepreneurs within Latitude.  Today, it’s used by some of the largest media companies in the world to better understand their content, brands and audiences.
